OPCOM Holdings Malaysia Leading Fiber Optics Company

OPCOM has made into limelight today when they secured the RM11.16 Rakan Unifi broadband contracts for 18 months since July 2nd, 2018 with government-related telco Telekom Malaysia.

OPCOM managed by CEO and chairman Mokhzani Mahathir, a billionaire, Forbes 2018 top #43 richest in Malaysia. In a revealing fact, OPCOM was founded by Mukhriz Mahathir, now Kedah state's first minister who is also Tun Mahathir's son. Who are they again? Both are sons of Tun Mahathir, current prime minister of Malaysia (also former 4th prime minister). Starting fiber optics company in 1994, in Malaysia? Mind-blowing I could say.

Alleged breach of trust and alleged political issue aside, OPCOM is actually long being a key player and relevant partner for many major telco companies in Malaysia in the form of manufacturing of fiber optics cables, fiber optics systems and fiber optics accessories. Meaning, OPCOM is banking on the forever growing broadband business in Malaysia.

OPCOM group of companies includes:
1. OPCOM Cables.
2. Unigel Compounds (formerly OPCOM Niaga).
3. OPCOM Shared Services.
4. OPCOM Trading.

No wonder our prime minister Tun Mahathir managed to get two billionaire sons in Ringgit Malaysia, Mukhriz Mahathir net worth not officially declared though, internet rumors at around USD200 million, but not sure. They know how to do big businesses, in big critical areas, in Malaysia and worldwide.

Opcom have 10-acres fiber optic cables manufacturing factory in Shah Alam, Selangor.
OPCOM was incorporated since 1994.
OPCOM was listed on MESDAQ on Bursa Malaysia since December 2003.
OPCOM leads by Mokhzani Mahathir, net worth USD370 million.
